What Is Structured Flexibility?

According to Merriam Webster dictionary, Flexible is defined as: easily changed; able to change or to do different things. In business, this structure is formed as a response to employee relations and the way they interact with one another during the course of the day. Unlike formal structures — which are clearly defined as specific guidelines a company uses for both internal and external business — flexible structures allow for the organization to adapt to new or unexpected occurrences.

PayPal was meant to be a cryptography company before it transitioned into an online payment system. When Apple rehired Steve Jobs, the company transitioned into the mode of creating aesthetically appealing, quality consumer electronics after failed attempts marketing items that range from digital cameras to CD players. Initially, Facebook was exclusive to college campuses, while other social media platforms allowed everyone to join. Allowing the structure to change made possible for the company to become the social media behemoth it is now.

Many successful companies have changed direction to grow into the healthy organizations they are today.
