Q&A: Hitting The Ceiling

Q: My Company seems stuck. I can’t get off the gerbil wheel. How do I move forward?

Companies, similar to the human body, go through growing pains.  The difference is that the human body was created to release hormones to control the pain to allow natural growth.  Unfortunately, companies are not so lucky.  For most companies, painless horizontal growth is improbable. Companies have evolutionary and revolutionary growth cycles at least every five years.  You’ll know you hit one of these periods because you’ll feel stuck.  We call this period, “Hitting the Ceiling.”  No matter how much effort, your organization has difficulty getting traction.  You’re  just spinning your wheels. Thank heaven the human body does not share the odds of companies, otherwise humanity would be doomed.  There is a 50 percent probability of your company going out of business when you hit one of these cycles.  Most companies flat line and never achieve their true potential.

Companies that master and implement these five leadership skills, breakthrough and emerge victorious:

  1. Simplify
  2. Delegate
  3. Predict
  4. Systematize
  5. Structure
